#100Times: Maybe God is teaching you about Him
I have a guest writer for today’s segment of #100Times, which is timely because I wasn’t feeling well, and so everything I wrote was morose and a bit of a damper. Felt better after getting it all out on paper, but it wasn’t the type I wanted to put up on the blog because it includes some venting. I present the reflections of my friend, Michael Muhwezi.
Maybe God is teaching you about Him.
For the believer, in a pause season.
A pause–a quiet season–that seems ungodly, icky, and surely too low for your level of spiritual maturity?
When advanced human wisdom, interfaith dialogue, made-up acronyms, or a 4-step program on how to overcome the wilderness, will not get you out of it.
Maybe, in this season, God is teaching you about Him, and nothing else.
Maybe, in this unfamiliar season, God is reminding you of His unwavering presence–His unchanging nature.
Maybe God is teaching you to love the unlovable, so that you may appreciate His love for those that are His.
Maybe, in your suffering, He is reminding you to endure under great temptation and to rely on Him. To value the lowly things of this world that He considers to be of great worth, so that you will not commit your soul to the fleeting ‘big things’.
Maybe God needed to remind you: His covenant stands, and His commitment to those who are His remains unshakable.
Maybe God is reminding you of His sovereignty versus your folly and the misguided belief that you can make and manifest as you wish.
Maybe God is allowing you to see people in great need, to learn mercy, and remind you of His providence.
Maybe God has paused some noise (a cushy job, your favourite device, a thing you idolised, a talent you found identity in, your health) so that you may reflect deeply on all these things and truly commit to Him.
Maybe God is teaching you these things, not as a launch pad for the next phase, but for now, to live with utmost conviction.
Maybe God is teaching you about one thing —Him.
